OUTSTANDING SOCIAL SUCCESS.
Eighteen Debutantes Presented.
Eighteen debutantes of the Noosa district were presented to the Lord Mayor of Brisbane (Alderman A. Jones) at the seventh annual ball at the Tewantin Lodge No. 355 of the U.G.L.Q., held in Jennings' hall last Friday evening. The function was one of the most successful known in the resort, and the gathering of over 300 patrons, included representatives from the various lodges in the district. The interior of the hall was artistically decorated with palm fronds, golden wattle, bougainvillea, multi-coloured streamers, paper butterflies and lodge emblems. R. Wor. Bro. A. M. Sneesby, P.G.W., A.G.S.W., was director of ceremonies, and was assisted by Wor. Bro. R. T. Read. Dance music was provided by the Eumundi-Kenilworth band. Proceedings opened with the grand march led by Wor. M. Bro. A. J. Cobby and Miss Cobby, and the officers of the lodge preceded by the deacons, Wor. Bro. V. H. Dow (Walkerston), Bro. V. C. Read, H. Krogh and W. Tedford.

The debutantes were preceded by two little girls, Jean Udell and Olive Ross, dressed as fairies and carrying silver wands. Mrs. A. J. Cobby acted as matron of honour and presented the debutantes to the Lord Mayor. Alderman Jones, who was accompanied by the Lady Mayoress (Mrs. Jones), thanked the lodge officers for affording him the opportunity to visit Tewantin. A dainty supper was served, at which the debutantes' cake, donated by Mr. and Mrs. Jennings, was cut by Mrs. Jones.

The debutantes were: Miss Hilary Lennox, who chose silk and cellophane, with a long flared skirt and posy of flowers on shoulder; Miss Muriel Link (Cooroy), ivory silk lace over satin and finished to form a train; Miss Doris Pearce (Cooroy), white satin relieved with silver lace; Miss Dorothy Swith, Kabe silk crepe and velvet cape, trimmed with fur; Miss Betty Taylor, ivory satin, trimmed with lace and braiding; Miss Florence Starkey, wool lace over satin, ornamented with wood pulp flowers; Miss Winifred Hale, kabe silk crepe, finished to form a train; Miss Edna Isdale, white silk net and satin, trimmed with ribbons and rosettes; Miss Thelma Kropp, white satin, cape sleeves and silver trimmings; Miss Dulcie Finney (Pomona), angel skin lace and georgette trimmings; Misses Hazel and Sylvia Everett (Pomona), georgette and lace with long skirts; Miss N. Powell, white marocain, made on tight-fitting lines, with cowl neckline and cape sleeves; Miss Daphne Shipp, white satin and lace; Misses Isobel and Vera Beal (Ringtail), Joyce Finney (Cooroy), and Ada Shepherd (Ridgewood), silk and lace; Miss Irene Parr (Cole's Creek), angel skin lace over satin.
