Additional InformationArthur and Alice Wallace built their retirement home on a parcel of land, approx 32 hectares, known as Portion 151, Parish of Tewantin from Robert Adams. This land was originally selected by Walter B Hay. Walter Hays homestead was destroyed by fire in 1880. Arthur and Alice home was built by Dick Caddell of Cooroy also a boatshed and jetty that was connected via a causeway through the floodplain to the elevated homestead. They were reasonably self-sufficient with a large vegetable garden, fowl house, ducks, a dairy and windmill. Macadamias and various fruit trees were also planted. Alice died in 1954 and Arthur in 1974. Wallace house was sold and the family moved out in 1980. Between 1980-1992 Wallace house was a rental property and then in 1992 the Noosa Shire Council purchased the property from the Mooloolaba Downs Pty Ltd. Wallace House became the headquarters for the Noosa Arts and Crafts Association in 1993 and continues to this day. Dateearly 1950s
