TitleCombined Receiving LicenceAdditional InformationRadio licences in Australia were subject to a fee payable to the Commonwealth of Australia from 1923 to 1956. From 1956 - 1974 with the introduction of television a combined radio and television receiver licence was required. On the 18-9-1974 the Federal Government decided to drop licence fees due to the high cost of monitoring compliance. The ABC, which had been financed by the licence fees, was then funded by general taxpayer revenue. A plan to reintroduce a combined radio and television receiver licence in 1975 was considered but dropped.CreatorCommonwealth of AustraliaDate29 May 1973LanguageEnglishImage NoT2001155T2001156
