Alternative NameThe Gorrie Family Post Office, Newsagency and Real Estate.Additional InformationBrothers George and Keith Gorrie, their mother, Mrs. A.M. Gorrie and Keith's wife, Renalda, and their three children, came to Peregian Beach to settle in August 1963.
The first brick store, contracted to George Pearce and Don Woodward of Tewantin with Keith and George helping with the building. The store opened for business as a General Store that same year.
With the opening of T.M Burkes public swimming pool beside the General Store in Easter 1964, business increased enormously.
In December 1971 the premises was divided into two separate lock-up shops. The food section was leased to John and Margaret Bourke while the Gorries carried on the Post Office (which became official in August 1971) during this time the Newsagency & Real Estate section was established also.
