Dilozo's Restaurant
ABOUT THIS ITEM
Additional InformationDilozo’s Restaurant on Hastings Street was owned and operated by Lori and Ian Banks. In 1993, the restaurant closed for a total refurbishment and interior renovation and re-opened in June. The new look restaurant featured a revised menu, outdoor dining area, roomy bar and a Mediterranean colour scheme. The glassed-in beach front eating area provided guests with the ability to enjoy the view without being affected by cool winds or sands. Concertina glass doors provided an open air feel in other section. The décor featured bright pastels, modern art, and textile couch covers described as having a ‘Mexican-Oriental’ feel. The colour scheme included sand-coloured tiles complemented by blue and yellow and a colourful mural. It was also famous for it’s find food and prided itself on offering café prices so people could enjoy eating delicious, high quality food without worrying about the cost. The revamped menu retained some old favourites and introduced some new items. It included offerings such as prawns tossed in chili and snowpeas, and spinach and cornmeal gnocchi with garlic cream and basil.
The restaurant was formerly the Rusty Pelican and was on the site that is today occupied by Bistro C.
Lorraine ‘Loz’ Banks was born in Lancashire. She left the UK to travel the world and, after living in Sydney for a while, moved to Noosa in 1989. She first started restaurant Eduardo’s (now home to Seasons Restaurant). She owned the property where Rusty Pelican operated and when the operators began to struggle, Lorraine stepped in to see if she could make it work. The restaurant later became Bistro C.
