When early selectors arrived at the newly established settlement of Tewantin in the early 1870s, reports indicate that it was not uncommon to see several hundred Aboriginal persons in the camps along the river. By the early 1900s the only people that remained were : 'King' Tommy and his two sons Agnew and Tommy Dodd, 'King' Brown , wife Susie and thier son Freddy Brown, and Emma Dunne and Willie Crowe.
