HERITAGE NOOSA
Wondai
DETAILS
DescriptionWondai, formerly located at 275 Gympie Terrace, Noosaville, was built by Frank Jones in the 1920s, from timber transported by truck from Wondai down to Noosaville. He built a second house next door, named KiaOra. The houses were used as holiday homes by the family and employees of the Wondai Mill. Following the deaths of Frank and his wife Wilhelmina, the houses went to the two surviving daughters. Minnie received Wondai and it continued to be a holiday home until both houses were sold in 1963 by real estate agent Max Agar. Wondai was moved to its present location on Mary Street where it serves as the office for Noosa Today.
Kirriwina Motel was built on the site, which was subsequently replaced by The Outrigger.
