Cooran Uniting Church (former)
DETAILS
Alternative NameCooran Methodist ChurchDescriptionThe Cooran Uniting Church (former) was erected by contractors Watts and Webster in 1912, for an amount of £30 for labour only. It was officially opened on Sunday 23 June 1912 by the Reverend Dr Henry Youngman who then conducted the first church service. The erection of the church was the result of public support and fundraising activities in the preceding years and, subsequently, the church was well attended following its opening.
In 1977, Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational Churches came together to form the Uniting Church in Australia, and the Cooran Methodist Church became known as the Cooran Uniting Church. In 1996, the church was deconsecrated due to falling congregation numbers and was later sold for use as a private residence.Address13,Queen Street,Cooran
