Description
Martin House was built in 1926 for Mrs W. Martin, proprietor of Martin’s Tewantin Hotel. The following year, the property was purchased by the Parkyn family who retained the house until sold in 1985. The Parkyn’s also owned two flats in the locality that were rented as holiday accommodation. The Martin and Parkyn families both contributed significantly to the development of the Noosa region from the late 1800s and through the 1900s and were influential in the growth of tourism in Noosa Shire through their efforts in providing accommodation, boating and fishing facilities, and
entertainment.
