Title'Do Without Week' Parade, Tinbeerwah Settlement participants, Cooroy, 26 August 1916Additional InformationThe Cooroy and surrounding communities held a fund raising week to assist their wounded soldiers and their dependents. The week concluded with a carnival and procession.

The parade was marshalled by Mr. Himalaya James Wright, assisted by Messrs John Luto Boden and Walford Sivyer.

The Gympie Times described the event as follows: The residents of Tinbeerwah settlement participated in the parade with the following: In the forefront was a large banner or sign, with the word "Tinbeerwah," carried by two young ladies. This was followed by Misses Sivyer and Krohn, as Red Cross Nurses, carrying a banner with the words, "We have" showing a number of aged men representing warriors of gone by battles. This was followed by another banner with the words, "We are," This was supported by persons in character, representing those able to take their place at the front line today. Another banner followed them with the words “We Shall.” This was supported boys from the Tinbeerwah school, representing those who will take their place in the ranks when they grow up. Another banner followed with the motto “Keep the home fires burning.” This was represented by the wives of settlers, with their various handicrafts. Best fancy or individual character went to 'King Billy' of Tinbeerwah and his 'Mary.' The characters were portrayed by Master Lister and Miss Burgess, both about seven years of age.
