Description
Permission to establish a Masonic branch at Tewantin was granted in 1927 with the consecration and dedication of Tewantin Lodge, No. 335 of the U. G. L. Q. taking place at the Tewantin School of Arts in July 1928. In 1953, the foundation stone for new Masonic Temple at Tewantin was laid. The building, which cost £2,500, was hailed as one of the most modern of its kind in Queensland. The Temple was expanded in 1995 with the addition of the relocated St Mary's Anglican Church hall.
The addition was officially opened in 1996 by Mrs Olive Donaldson, daughter of William J. Ross, a foundation member of the Tewantin Lodge. The lodge has historical significance for its connection to the Tewantin Freemasons.AddressToolar & Moorindil Streets, Tewantin
