Parliamentary backbencher Mr Abbott promised that 23 CCTV cameras would be installed throughout Cooroy's CBD to deter crime and keep a watchful eye on potential offenders.

This involved the installation of a high-tech camera network linked directly to the local station to enhance community safety and was in place January 2017.
