To celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizbeth II, Gympie held a coronation procession which ran to a mile long of floats and marchers, including representatives from Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club. The procession proceeded through the decorated main streets before assembling in Albert Park where the crowd of 8000 pledged their loyalty to the young Queen.

A parade also took place in the Noosa Shire.
