Tewantin Hotel Destroyed; £10,000 Blaze Read full article here "The Tewantin Hotel, a large two-story building at Tewantin, was burned to the ground early this morning. Damage is estimated at £10,000. All the occupants escaped. The alarm was given to the Post Office by Mr. J. Parkyn, who lives close by at 1.55 a.m. Fanned by a strong south-easterly, the fire swept rapidly through the building. Sparks were blown a quarter of a mile, and the bitumen in front of the hotel caught fire. The owners of the hotel were Queensland Brewery Limited, and the occupiers were Mr. and Mrs. G. Mann. The blaze could be seen at Pomona and Cooroy, 20 miles away."
