TitlePioneers of the district, Majestic Hall, Factory Street, Pomona, 1924 Additional InformationThe hardwood timber hall (now the Majestic Theatre) was built in 1921 for Errol A. Osborne and wife Myra, then licensees of the Pomona Railway Hotel. It catered for a variety of community functions and events such as movies, plays, dances, meetings and sporting events including roller skating and boxing matches. In 1923 Myra Osborne, leased the hall to Harold Page, who obtained a theatre license in the same year. After initially screening silent films, the first 'talkies' or 'sound films' were shown in the Hall in 1931. In 1933 Ernie Bazzo took over the lease and upgraded and refurbished the hall and operated it as an entertainment centre and cinema until the early 1970s.Date1924Image NoM864608
