ABOUT THIS ITEM
Alternative NameRosieAdditional InformationRosalie (Rosie) Hall was born in 1946 in Surry Hills Victoria. Rosie with her husband Trevor and children settled in Kin Kin in the early 1980s (Trevor the farmer and Rosie the artist).
The family home was located at 63 Main Street Kin Kin and comprised a home, a small building (previously the ANZ bank) at the front of the property which she turned into an Art Gallery (now known as the ‘Kin Kin Depot’, gift shop) and 160 acres. This property was located between the Kin Kin Hotel and the Kin Kin Butter Factory.
Whilst raising her young family Rosie conducted life drawing classes in her small gallery. The gallery was a showcase for local artists in the community and Rosie sold their works including her own artwork and photographs.
Rosie’s love of photography was enriched when she undertook a photography course with Phil Jarratt and later on set up her own dark room and developing studio.
Rosie found herself fully immersed in all the things that a country community has to offer. She was on the School P & C, helped out at the Hotel, sang in bands, gave art classes and signed up for any opportunity that was on offer to participate in that involved the community.
It was one of these opportunities that saw her join ‘The Deadly Serious Theatre Troupe’. This troupe was coordinated by Tony Kishawi. Rosie also joined the Majestic Players Group and performed in many of the plays in the Majestic Theatre in Pomona.
Rosie and her family left the Kin Kin area in the late 1980s moving to Tewantin but she always continued her busy community involvement. Date15 July 2022
