Additional InformationThe first colonial vessels to sail on the Noosa River were directly linked to the logging industry in the 1860s. In 1866, the Gneering delivered 30,000 feet (9,000 metres) of red cedar logs to Brisbane. Originally a sailing ship but converted into a paddle steamer, the Gneering was a regular sight on the Noosa River and the coast before she eventually ran aground and was abandoned on the Maroochy River bar in 1893.
