(Source: Daily Standard 3 February 1933, p. 9. Includes this photo). The notes on the back of the photo indicate it was caught in February 1932, which is supported by a news article in The Telegraph that reports Mr E Fischer landing a shovelnose shark 9 feet long and nearly four feet wide (Source: The Telegraph, 12 February 1932, p. 12).

Mr Ernest Fischer was a farmer in Maroochy River. He appears to have been a keen angler and fishing reports for Tewantin regularly list him as a member of fishing parties.
