DETAILS
Description
The building was the former Noosa Shire Council Chambers, built in 1911. The front verandah was enclosed in 1929, and the Council boardroom was added at the rear of the original building. In 1960, additions were made for the Shire Clerkâs office, with a separate external set of stairs, and a public and press gallery was erected at the rear of the boardroom. Downstairs, the front was enclosed with battens and a brick storeroom was built for storage.

In 1982, Council approved the use of the building by the Cooroora Historical Society to store its collection. In 1985, the Society commenced the operation of the Noosa Shire Museum in the former Noosa Shire Council Chambers building, under a lease agreement with Noosa Council.
