From 1982, the Society began to use the former Noosa Shire Council Chambers building as a museum, initially known as the Cooroora Historical Museum. By April 1985, a lease agreement was drawn up with Noosa Shire Council for the use of the former Chambers building.
The Society officially opened the Noosa Shire Museum in April 1985. The name change better reflected the museum's intention to represent the whole of the Noosa Shire. Cooroora Historical Society continues to operate the Noosa Shire Museum.Address 29, Factory Street, Pomona
