Additional InformationThe Monks family have a long and rich history in Noosaville and the wider Noosa area. John Monks settled on Weyba Creek in 1870, he barrowed his fish to Gympie. John built the Weyba Homestead in Lake Weyba Drive in 1902 which provided board and lodgings and sold home grown vegetables, fish and crabs. The homestead became significant landmarks in the area, with the homestead functioning as a guesthouse.
John George (JG) Monks documented Noosa from the late years of the 19th century through to the middle years of the 20th, from lantern slides to impressive black and white film prints.
Colin Monks, a prominent member of the family, is recognized for his historical writings and community involvement.
