Fig Tree, Tewantin Memorial Park, Tewantin, 1 September 2026

This white fig tree is a historic deciduous white fig (Ficus virens) estimated to be between 200 and 400 years old and standing over 30 metres tall. It is a significant cultural landmark for the Kabi Kabi people, who historically used it as an Indigenous burial tree and a traditional gathering place.

To extend its lifespan and preserve its structurally compromised trunk, the tree has been reinforced with concrete. Despite its advanced age and weathered condition, the tree remains a prominent feature of the local landscape and a central part of Tewantin's heritage.
