Clay carving, official opening, Cooroy Library, 9 Maple Street, Cooroy, 6 June 2010

The Cooroy Library first opened its doors to the public for borrowing and browsing on May 24, 2010.
Following its initial opening, the community celebrated with an official Grand Opening event on Sunday, June 6, 2010

The Carving Process: Visitors used simple wooden styluses and sticks to etch personal touches, names (such as "Krishna" and "Lachie" carved on the front face), and smiley faces into the soft surfaces.  These carved clay installations were designed to be dried, fired, and permanently incorporated into the Mill Place precinct public art trail.  The Collaboration: The project was coordinated in partnership with the neighbouring Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre, bridging the gap between the new digital library and the local ceramic arts community.
