The Hall comprised the former School of Arts to which was added the building known as Dan Martin's Dance Hall. The Soldiers Memorial Hall was used as a meeting place for returned service personnel and as a meeting place for local gatherings and functions. For many years a room at the front of the Hall (left) was rented to local hairdressers. It also served as casket agency and receiving depot for dry cleaning. The building was destroyed by fire on 17 March 1967. It was rebuilt in 1970 and officially opened in September 1970 by the then Queensland Governor, Sir Alan Mansfield. The C.W.A. Rest Room and Cottage (far left) escaped the blaze.Image NoM856840
