Also Known AsC J KellyAdditional InformationClarence Joseph Kelly, a 30 year old fisherman, enlisted in the Australia Army for service in World War 2 in Cooroy on 27 June 1940. Kelly adjusted his year of birth by one year to enlist. He was assigned to the 2/31st Infantry Battalion. He embarked for overseas service in February 1941, arriving in the Middle East in March 1941. Several months later he was promoted to Lance Corporal. Only days later he was reported as Wounded in Action, which was then amended to Killed in Action in the Battle for Jezzine (Lebanon). Kelly was initially buried in Jezzine and was later reburied in the Beirut British War Cemetery.
