SpickettAdditional InformationPrivate George Spickett, Royal Australian Engineers, aged 25 years, was on his final leave visiting his parents in Tewantin before embarking for overseas service. He was travelling by car from Tewantin to Noosa Heads on Christmas Eve 1940 when the vehicle swerved and overturned. George sustained serious internal injuries and was rushed by ambulance to Cooroy Hospital but died soon after admission. He is buried in the Tewantin Cemetery.
George had previously been hit by the mail train in Eumundi sustaining serious injuries that required a long recuperation in hospital.
Spickett's name appears on the Tewantin War Memorial.
