Mineral Sands Factory moved onto the North Shore in January Noosa North Shore, Easter 1970. The company began mining the Cooloola Coast and Fraser Island. They installed a floating treatment plant on 4 separate pontoons and a Plant Suction Cutter dredge with 250ft of floating pipeline. Sand was ferried to the mainland in barges and also by tugboat to Brisbane.
