Name"A dance with the waves you did with your friends"Overview
In this interview, Ken speaks of his memories of surfing in Noosa in the early 1960s, the uniqueness of the respectful relationship that existed between male and female surfers in Noosa (as compared to other surfing locations), and the large contingent of Brisbane-ites (Brissos) who were surfing in Noosa at this time, including a long list of names. Ken also reflects on the paradise that was, and is, Noosa and the changes that have occurred as a result of development, sand pumping and the relocation of the river mouth.
The interview includes an overview of Ken’s media career which had its genesis in his love of surfing and provided a platform from which he continued to promote the sport. Ken adds a “post-script” describing how important history projects, and the surfing history project in particular, are for ensuring that future generations know the stories of our past.
