Also Known AsWilliam Henry HooperAdditional InformationWilliam Henry Hooper was a respected educator and community figure who served as the head teacher of Tewantin State School from 1921 to 1952. Born into a pioneering family with roots in Cornwall, England, Hooper's legacy in Tewantin spans education, community service, and environmental stewardship.
During his tenure, Hooper made a lasting impact on the school and its surroundings. Between 1937 and 1939, he planted approximately 500 pine trees—Pinus Taeda and Pinus Ellioti—around the school grounds. These trees still stand today, visible from Poinciana Avenue, as a living tribute to his dedication.
After retiring in 1952, Hooper lived in a green house he built on Werin Street.
