Pomona School Victory Plot was situated at the Pinbarren School Reserve, which had an area of 6 acres, 1 rood, 18 perches, this plot was commenced in 1941, 600 hoop pine being planted on 29 .11.1941. The name 'Pomona School Victory Plot' was decided upon by the 1942 Forestry Club members. The inauguration of the plot was due largely to the efforts of George G. Dan Head Teacher and the 1941 School Committee (C. Barker, Chairman, H. Geddes, Secretary). Attached to the plot was the original Pinbarren Plot, containing 80 trees (Pinus Taeda, Hoop Pine, Silky Oak, Kauri Pine) planted in November 1936 and June 1937. Pomona School Plot - an initial planting of 54 Pinus Taeda was made on July 20th, 1939. A further 36 trees were planted 19.07.1940 and a further 24 in July 1941. No planting was done in 1942, the Forestry Club members using the available area for vegetable growing.
