OverviewPeter was born in the late 1940s and grew up on the northern beaches of Sydney, surfing at places like Collaroy and Narrabeen and first visited Noosa in the early 1960s, falling in love with a local girl, Jenny Clarey, and making Noosa his home.
In this oral history interview, Peter provides an insight into the fluidity of the surfing fraternity up and down the east coast between Sydney and Noosa. He speaks of the unique lifestyle that is surfing and the lifelong friendships that it has forged. Peter also presents a counter-perspective that a living could be made in Noosa for those who were prepared to work hard. He also adds to the story of John Hofmann and the way Hofmann’s Ranch was managed.
