The Monks family apparently wanted a family photo on the bridge with no one else around and 'gate crashed' the gala opening day of the bridges, posing for the family portrait the day before the official opening on 19 October, 1929. Left to right is Walter Monks, George Monks, driver is Arthur Monks, John George Monks (the photographer is standing in the car after setting a delayed shutter on his camera), Bill Dunn (Ethel Monks' brother), Eddie Tier (Sadie Tier (nee Dunn's) husband), Sadie Tier (nee Dunn), Ethel Monks (nee Dunn, John George Monks' wife), Colin Monks (John George and Ethel Monks' son) as a 4 year old, Ruby Dunn (later married to Vic Jerks).
